Some may call me a serial hobbyist, and they'd be right. If it involves making something, joining a group, or getting a little better at a thing each week, odds are I've tried it, started a club around it, or roped in a few hundred people to do it with me. Here are a few of my current hobbies:
I volunteer with dog rescues in New York City and have fostered dogs through Rescue City. One of my favorite ways to give back.
In 2023 I started a book club that grew into a community of more than 500 women. Monthly meetings, outings, and a group retreat.
I co-chaired nonprofit board training for the New York Junior League and serve on the Prospect Park South Association board, supporting historic preservation in Brooklyn.
Founding member of Sydney James Golf Club, a women's golf community focused on increasing participation and access in the sport.
Part of several needlepoint groups. Craftsmanship, creativity, and community, one stitch at a time.
I'm learning how to bake by making two different recipes of the same thing, like two carrot cakes. It's my version of A/B testing, except the metrics are butter, crumb, and how quickly everything disappears.
Apparently, everything "old ladies" are doing, I'm doing too. Needlepoint? Check. Book club? Check. Mahjong? Obviously. I'm a competitive beginner, which means I may not always know the rules, but I will absolutely defend my strategy.
As a Colorado native, nothing clears my mind like a long day on the slopes.
